HypnoBirthing in Málaga — Calm, Empowered Birth for Expats in Spain
Hi, I’m Titia, a mum of three, HypnoBirthing instructor, and hypnosis practitioner based in Málaga. I founded Born in Trust to support expat women through pregnancy and birth in Spain — because I know firsthand how overwhelming it can be.
We moved to Spain when my oldest daughter was just three months old. She just turned ten. So yes, we’ve been here a while — and I’ve navigated the Spanish maternity system three times over!
How I Discovered HypnoBirthing — And Why It Changed Everything
When I was pregnant with my eldest, I had no idea what to expect from birth. Of course, I had heard the horror stories from friends, and those images of screaming, swearing, panicking actresses on TV — but beyond that, I couldn’t imagine much. And honestly? That terrified me. That’s not the birth I wanted.
So I went searching for an antenatal course in Spain that fitted my wish for a natural, calm birth — and I found HypnoBirthing. That course completely changed my understanding of birth and showed me how it could be. I had an amazingly beautiful, empowering birth experience, and from that moment I became a true HypnoBirthing advocate. I wanted to share this with every parent willing to hear it!
Three years later, pregnant with my second and preparing for another home birth — this time in Spain — I got certified as a HypnoBirthing and hypnosis practitioner and started my practice: Born in Trust.
What Is HypnoBirthing and How Does It Work?
HypnoBirthing is a comprehensive birth preparation programme that combines knowledge of the natural birthing process with breathing techniques and visualisations, all to support your body’s natural rhythms. It doesn’t just look at the physical side of birth — it also addresses the psychological process.
This programme supports the birthing mother, the birth partner, and the baby. Your birth partner plays an essential role too — learning how to support you effectively, feeling confident and involved. Together, we focus on building a positive mindset and developing practical skills that promote a calm birthing environment.
A key part of the course is empowering you with the knowledge to make informed decisions that align with your values. I’ll guide you through understanding evidence-based information about common procedures and interventions, and you’ll learn how to communicate effectively with Spanish healthcare providers. This is especially valuable for expat families navigating the Spanish maternity system for the first time. If that resonates with you, I also wrote a blog post about language barriers during pregnancy and birth in Spain.
HypnoBirthing Courses in Málaga — Group, Private or Online
The group course is a wonderful way to connect with other parents-to-be in Málaga. It runs over five sessions of two and a half hours, mostly at weekends. But sometimes that format simply doesn’t fit — and that’s where the private or intensive course comes in.
It gives you much more space for personal questions and can be flexibly adapted to your needs. While the programme follows a fixed structure, we can choose to spend more time on the parts most relevant to you.
Pregnancy Circles in Málaga — Emotional Support for Expectant Mums
The pregnancy circles are centred around a theme — emotional wellbeing, bonding with your baby, or boundaries.
Each circle weaves together honest sharing, guided meditation, and a hands-on creative activity. Not a chaotic get-together — a space where every woman speaks and everyone else truly listens. No judgement, no unwanted advice.
Because pregnant women are wide open. You feel everything more. And sometimes you just need somewhere safe to put it down. You leave with something you’ve felt — not just heard.
Birth Plan Support for Expats in Spain — Know Your Options
A birth plan isn’t about having everything perfectly mapped out. It’s about making thoughtful choices before you’re in the middle of labour, so you don’t have to figure it all out in the moment — especially important when navigating birth in a foreign country and a different language.
Are you clear on what you want during your birth? Have you and your partner discussed your preferences? Do you know your birthing rights in Spain, or feel confident discussing your wishes with your Spanish healthcare provider?
If you feel a little lost — that’s exactly what the 1:1 birth plan meeting is for. In this personalised online session, you and your birth partner will explore all available options together and create a birth plan that truly reflects your wishes. Together, we’ll turn uncertainty into confidence.
